Kansai joins the MAI
The Kansai Electric Power Company decided to join the MAI as a full member, starting in January 2010. We believe that this is excellent news for the MAI and its members.
Youkoso Kansai!
The Kansai Electric Power Institute (Kansai) is the second largest electric power utility of Japan: its nuclear power capacity is close to 9,8 GW produced by three nuclear power plants based on Pressurized Water Reactors. Half of Kansai's energy production is of nuclear origin, the other part is fossile fuel (about 40%) and hydropower. The feedback of Kansai's PWR fleet (almost 40 years for the 1666 MW Mihama plant...) will be a significant input for our institute.
