Material Degradation Course for Engineers Working in the Nuclear Industry
The final program for the third offer of this course is now available. The course will take place from 5 to 8 June in Vail, Colorado, USA.
Upcoming MAI Workshop
About 50 researchers already subscribed to the unique workshop entitled "Inspection and Degradation Management of Concrete Structures in the Nuclear Industry", which will take place at the MAI from September 14 to 16, 2011.
A successful Materials Degradation Course
From May 3 to 5 2011, the MAI proposed its second offering of the "Materials Degradation Course for Engineers in the Nuclear Industry".
MAI HQE Certified
On June 17, 2010, the MAI building was officially certified in accordance to the French High Environmental Quality standards (HQE), a prestigious label certifying the quality of construction with respect of the environment. This is the first building of EDF Group HQE certified as a new construction.
MAI launches its Scientific Network
The MAI launched its Scientific Network (MAI-SN) on May 21, 2010. The objective is to create a strong and permanent linkk between the Institute and the international scientific community on material ageing and related energy issues.
MAI visited by Henri Proglio
On March 11, Henri Proglio, President of EDF Group, honored the Materials Ageing Institute with a visit, illustrating the importance of the institute for EDF and for its R&D unit in particular.
Kansai joins the MAI
The Kansai Electric Power Company decided to join the MAI as a full member, starting in January 2010. We believe that this is excellent news for the MAI and its members.

MAI Workshop on Lifetime Prediction of LWRs
The MAI organizes in April 8-9, 2010 an international workshop on environmentally-assisted cracking. Experts from various countries are invited to discuss prediction methods and to understand environmentally-assisted cracking which represents a limiting factor for the lifetime of light-water reactor components.
MAI has a new director
After a year of transition, the MAI nominated its first director: Jan van der Lee, former researcher and professor at the Paris School of Mines, joined the EDF R&D direction and the MAI in April 2009.
MAI and Master Degree Courses
Training sessions are organized in close collaboration with several one-year master courses. The purpose is to actively contribute to the training program by providing conferences on topics and applications relevant for utilities.
